2kg Bulmer’s Salmon Chucks for Working Dogs

Feeding raw salmon to dogs offers benefits like a shiny coat, healthy skin, reduced inflammation, improved joint health, and boosted cognitive function, primarily due to its rich content of protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon also contains essential B vitamins, vitamin D, and minerals like selenium, which support the immune system, bone health, and overall bodily functions.

Typical Analytical Constituents

Moisture: 66-70%
Crude Protein: Around 20%
Crude Fats & Oils: Around 6-18% or higher
Crude Ash: 5-7%
Crude Fibre: Typically very low, often <1%.

This is essentially a nutritional analysis showing the percentage levels of protein, fat, fibre and ash. These are all called 'crude' to reference the type of test that is conducted to measure the amounts present in the diets.

Crude Protein provides a general estimate of the protein present in animal feeds, foods, and other products

Crude Oils and Fats refers to the total fat content of a food, a mixture of true fats (like triglycerides) and other fat-soluble substances extracted using organic solvents

Crude Ash is a measure of the total mineral content (inorganic matter) in a food sample. It's determined by burning the food at a high temperature to combust all the organic components, leaving behind the non-combustible minerals, which are then weighed and expressed as a percentage. Content includes essential minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and iron, which are vital for health. It can also include inorganic contaminants, such as soil or sand, that were present in the raw ingredients.

Moisture is a measure of water content in food. Moisture in food impacts taste by acting as a solvent for flavor compounds, allowing them to be detected by taste receptors, and by contributing to a desirable texture that is crucial to the overall sensory experience. An optimal level of moisture allows flavors to dissolve properly and enhances mouthfeel, while too little can make food dry and unappealing, and too much can lead to sogginess or diluting the flavor.

Crude fibre is the total amount of indigestible plant matter in dog food, measured as a percentage in the guaranteed analysis. It's crucial for gut health, aiding digestion and maintaining firm stools. Most healthy adult dogs do well with 2-5% crude fibre, though levels vary by individual needs, with some dogs benefiting from higher or lower amounts

At Pup Planet we have clear values that we only offer products that we believe are safe for our pack of doggie customers. We are only a small business (at the moment), but we will always question our suppliers to ensure products are high quality, safe & we can tolerate their company values, for us to partner with them.

Why Bulmer Pet Foods?

Great Value - We believe Bulmer packaging is zero thrills, low cost and seems only the product matters. Little spend on marketing, packaging & overheads in the business is passed onto the price of the product. We love this, we hope this never changes. When we first started working with Bulmer the owner at the time, Mark Sharman, runs the business as if it's not broken don't fix it. He seemed to run a slick operation, product comes in & goes out, that's it. Perfect operation that we think works with raw feeding products as being 'processed' with so little touches/changes, compliments our customer requirements of having the most natural products.

High Quality - Any less-processing would mean a live animal being delivered!! Whilst Bulmer food is not for human consumption, as it lacks pasteurization that kills the harmful bacteria to humans. Most dogs can tolerate the bacteria present. Bacteria grows over time, Bulmer's turnaround from farm to store is incredibly fast. They store product at their factory for an extremely short time & we accept slight availability issues as we are bidding for the limited fresh products on the day of ordering. This means super fresh products, that have been freeze blasted to lock in freshness, significantly reduces bacteria growth & kills parasites. It's then delivered direct from factory to our regional distributor in Kent, UK to us within a week.

Raw Food is the best... right?

Some dogs struggle with the little bacteria naturally present in raw food, or they don't like the taste, texture or eat too slowly increasing risk of illness from a food safety point of view. This is why Pup Planet supplies high grade dry, semi-moist, wet, freeze-dried raw and frozen raw dog food & treats. Allowing us to offer the best food for each individual dog's needs. Contact us (click here for details on ways to do this) and we will try to take the stress out of feeding your dog. We will work with you to resolve food intolerances, allergies, tastes or/and health issues. We will only suggest products that we believe will improve the health, wellness & happiness your dog.

Paw licking, itching, scratching, redness, digestion issues, finding food & treats for specific diet requirements, weight gain, weight loss, hyperactivity... we can work with you to trial changes that can improve issues & reduce the stress for parents when trying to find solutions or the best food for their dog. We know how overwhelming it is, we are here to help if you let us!!

How do you find the best food for my dog?

Firstly we listen. You know your dog more than anyone else, even more than the vet that has met them for 10 minutes. Vets are amazing, but they can't give the time we can, to really get to know your dog and be by your side to find the route cause of problems you want to deal with.

For example, an itchy dog is caused from one of many, or all of the many things: Environment, food/ingredient intolerances, protein size (the protein type as well as cooking method), balance of bacteria in the gut, their nervous system, parasites and even not caused by anything but a behaviour trait/habit that's developed over time.

We will ask what you have tried & the impacts of trying them? What your dog is eating that triggers, worsens or improves the issues. Any patterns noticed when the problem shows/worsens/calms, like if it's worst soon after eating? Is it in particular locations, time of day, weather, seasons, an activity the dog does like swimming, running or outdoor play?

Based on the information you give us, we'll suggest something to try. This will be the 'best guess' we have from what you have told us, the experience we have from successes with other dogs & the knowledge/resources we have access to. We are not qualified nutritionists or behaviorists (yet), but we have an amazing network of trusted vets, dog behaviorists, dogs nutritionists & access to our supplier scientific studies to source trusted information to inform our recommendations.

We will always say this is a trial, **often we provide products on a 'Try Before You Buy' basis, to support you in this time. The trial means, we know it's not 100% going to fix an issue on day one, but in this time of trying something new or a change, we need you to keep in contact with us. We need feedback on what has & hasn't changed from a result of following our initial suggestions.

From this continued feedback we'll recommend adjusting things or to keep things the same for the time being for more feedback. Throughout the process we will try our hardest to reassure you that they're getting the best food/products for good health & wellbeing to hopefully reduce your stress/worry as much as possible.

As we put your dog's health & happiness first - 'Dogs Before Profits', we will recommend products that we are unable to supply, if it's better for yours & your dog's needs/preferences. Even if we can supply the product, but we are aware it's a lot cheaper from another retailer, we will inform you of this***.

By us working together, with your observations & feedback, we'll find the right food for your dog for their happiness & improved well-being.

To manage expectations, finding a solution to any issues can take some time. If we're lucky the first suggestion gets the desired results, but some dogs we work with for years, as we have improved the situation but still support with the expansion of introducing a wider variety foods to their diet till their parent is fully comfortable their dog is living their best life.

All dog food purchased direct from Pup planet, comes with a 100% money back guarantee* for your first purchase of a brand or recipe not purchased before or tried. If your dog turns their nose up at at a new food... contact us then bring the food, with it's original packaging, back to us for a full refund.
